Systems Engineer

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Systems Engineering & Integration Division (AIR-4.6.1), of the Human Systems Department (AIR-4.6), of the Research and Engineering Group (AIR-4.0), in the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).  Assignments of duties are in direct support of NAVAIR Program Offices (PMAs), and are aligned with Systems Engineering Management Division (AIR-4.1.1).  This position will provide integration leadership for systems currently fielded but undergoing major modifications and mission equipment updates, and will provide systems engineering and integration leadership for systems in initial phases of acquisition life cycle (pre-production).  Successful candidates will be responsible for technical management of the acquisition and support of assigned systems.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to; planning and development of assigned system technical requirements; development and implementation of program plans; sustainment engineering; fleet support; and the coordination of assigned work efforts with government sites and other contractors. Additional responsibilities include; adherence to NAVAIR Airworthiness Process (NATOPS; Interim Flight Clearances, etc.); the incumbent will ensure that state of the art systems engineering practices are being employed by both OEM Contractor & Government team members in the execution of the program; Assists in the coordination of Navy Development Tests, Technical Evaluations, and OPEVAL testing; Functions as program/project expert or coordinates support for Human Factors Engineering (HFE); Manpower, Personnel, and Training (MP&T); health hazards; safety factors; medical factors; personnel (or human) survivability factors; and habitability considerations. 

Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering or an equivalent engineering or scientific related field is required.  Systems engineering experience is a plus. Senior Engineer

RED-INC, in support of the Human Systems Department, Naval Air Systems Command located in Patuxent River, Maryland, has an immediate opening for a full time Senior Engineer to support the Life Support Systems Branch of the Protection and Sustainment Division.

The Senior Engineer will be responsible for development, testing and evaluation, integration, systems engineering and fleet support of new and existing aircrew oxygen systems. Candidate will lead engineering investigations, accident investigations, and systems safety investigations pertaining to aircrew oxygen systems.  Maintains liaison with other division branches, NAWCAD competencies, government agencies, NAVAIRSYSCOM and industrial contractors.  Originates proposals, prepares correspondence, estimates, status reports and schedules as required to complete project requirements.  The successful candidate will be required to independently complete studies, reviews and evaluations of new or modified complex aircrew oxygen systems, subsystems and components. Reviews and analyze reports, prescribes operating procedures, and provides technical expertise.

Bachelors Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering related field is required as well as knowledge of aviation oxygen systems. Machinist/Maker

Research and Engineering Development, LLC, is seeking an immediate fill for a Machinist/Maker.  The successful candidate will be responsible for producing prototypes using a wide variety of materials, functioning with a fully digital workflow producing parts directly from 3D modeling software  The Machinist / Maker must be flexible, able to handle several projects simultaneously, and may be required to start on projects that are still in development. He/she will facilitate innovation by collaborating with engineers to improve manufacturability, functionality, and overall design. Candidates for this position should be passionate about creating and making, motivated by progress and innovation, and eager to learn new skills.

Duties and responsibilities of this position include:

Successful candidates will have 5 or more years of experience as a Model Maker or Machinist, Trade School, or coursework from an accredited Machine Tool Technology program.  Will require practical experience using tools and practices such as CNC and manual machining (CNC mill, CNC lathe, CNC router, drill press, horizontal band saw, arbor press, etc), woodworking operations (table saw, band saw, miter saw, lathe, drill press, jointer, planer, sanders, etc), sheet metal, hand tools and other items such as 3D printer, TIG welder, sewing machines, etc. Familiarity working with aluminum, sheet metal, HDPE, Delrin, PVC, wood, stainless steel, foam.  Competent with Fusion 360 or similar 3D modeling software; strong communication skills and excellent time management skills; familiarity with Google Apps for Business; interest and ability to quickly learn new technical and computer skills; innovative and resourceful, have the ability to quickly analyze and solve problems.  Must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills, U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a secret level security clearance is required.  Apply below.

Aircrew Survival Equipment Technician

In support of the Human Systems Department, at various locations in support of the Naval Air Systems Command located in Patuxent River, Maryland, RED-INC seeks qualified Aircrew Survival Equipment Technicians (Parachute Riggers) to support contract task orders at NAS Meridian, MS., NAS Kingville, TX., NAS Pensacola, FL., NAS LeMoore, CA., NAS Oceana, VA., and NAS Whidbey Island, WA. within the Aircrew Oxygen Systems Fleet Support Team (AOSFST) and NAWCAD AIR 4.6.7.3 competency to provide technical support applying survival systems knowledge and skills to support teams and programs by providing assessments of Personal Survival Equipment and Aircraft  Integrated Systems technical performance, mission suitability and risks throughout the process and life cycle of the programs under test.

The Aircrew Survival Equipment Technician position shall be responsible to be independent and  responsible for planning and coordination, preparation and dissemination of project documentation; such as schedules, data acquisition, data downloads, equipment installation and modifications to ensure customer requirements are met and exceeded.  Reviews data to determine documentation required for each phase of projects, applies knowledge of Aircrew Survival Equipment processes.  Analyzes any proposed changes of items under test to determine the effects on the overall system. The candidate will coordinate and manage modification records and configuration control. The candidate will assist in the technical development, review, and/or release of the following types of documentation within the Aircrew Oxygen System Fleet Support Team; Support Plans, Test Plans, Support Summaries, System Plans, Navy Technical Manuals / Functionally Oriented Maintenance Manuals.  The candidate will possess an understanding / knowledge and capability in the following tasking areas: Review and/or interpretation of data to develop system documentation; Development, Review and submission of Allowance Lists; Development and review and submit Compliance and Certification forms and history records; review and submit maintenance records, repair and overhaul work files, comply with documented Government Furnished Equipment / Government Furnished Information (GFE/GFI). Requires ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, fast passed environment. Successful candidates will possess strong organizational skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; excellent written/verbal communication skills are required. Experience working in a team-oriented; collaborative environment is also required.

The successful candidates shall have a Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering field.  In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree; senior level candidates shall have a minimum of 15 years of experience in Aircrew Survival Equipment support and maintenance and operational management within the Organizational and Intermediate Levels of Maintenance.  Senior level candidates shall have a minimum of 6 years of demonstrated supervisory and management experience and acquisition support experience. Mid-level candidates shall have a minimum of 10 years of experience and shall have at least 4 years of demonstrated supervisory and management experience.  U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance are required.  Positions are contingent upon award.
