Junior Engineering Psychologist
Location: NAS Patuxent River, MD
Clearance Required: Active Secret
Research and Engineering Development LLC is seeking a Junior Engineering Psychologist to support the E-130J program at NAWCAD Patuxent River. This position supports Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and Human Systems Integration (HSI) efforts within a DoD aviation test and engineering environment.
Responsibilities
- Support engineering and test activities focused on Human-Machine Interface (HMI) design and evaluation
- Assist with analysis, design, and testing of aircraft systems with emphasis on human performance, usability, and ergonomics
- Support basic and applied research related to human interaction with aviation systems
- Assist senior engineers and psychologists with test planning, data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Participate in identifying and recommending improvements to systems, tools, and test techniques
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Human Factors, Ergonomics, or related scientific/engineering field
- Experience supporting technical or engineering tasks under guidance of senior staff
- Ability to work in a collaborative DoD/NAVAIR engineering environment
- Active Secret Security Clearance
Desired Qualifications
- 1 to 2 years of NAVAIR / NAWCAD experience
- Exposure to HSI, HMI, aviation systems, or test & evaluation
- Familiarity with military or government engineering programs
This position is located at on site at NAS Patuxent River, MD and offers a salary range of $70,000 – $85,000 annually, depending on experience. Technician (Journeyman Level)
Location: NAS Patuxent River, MD
Clearance Required: Active Secret
Research and Engineering Development, LLC is seeking a Journeyman-level Engineering Technician to support Crew Systems Test and Evaluation (T&E) for unmanned aviation systems. This position plays a key role in Human Systems Integration (HSI) test planning, execution, analysis, and reporting in support of air vehicle and weapons system test programs.
Responsibilities
- Support T&E of unmanned systems and crew stations
- Operate, install, troubleshoot, and maintain:
- Computer & communications systems
- Consoles, simulators, and data acquisition/test equipment
- Execute test plans, collect and analyze data, and support test reporting
- Assist with MQ-25 Ground Control Station shipboard installation
- Work directly with engineers, test teams, and government stakeholders
- Support continuous process improvement and lab/test capability upgrades
- Serve as a subject-matter expert in a focused technical area when required
- May supervise or train junior technicians
Required Qualifications
- 4–10 years of relevant technician experience
- Hands-on experience with test systems, instrumentation, or integrated computer/communications systems
- Familiarity with Test & Evaluation environments (DoD or aerospace preferred)
- Active Secret security clearance (required at time of hire)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting unmanned systems or crewed/uncrewed aviation programs
- Human Systems Integration (HSI) exposure
- Shipboard aviation or carrier operations background
This position is located at on site at NAS Patuxent River, MD and offers a salary range of $75,000 – $101,000 annually, depending on experience.
